Completed in March of 1907, the Manitou Incline was a one-mile cable car railway built to give tourists a quick ride to a summit to savor some phenomenal views of Colorado Springs. Eventually, the Manitou Incline closed and pulled up tracks. Ever since then the route has seen a steady stream of runners, joggers, hikers, walkers, and even some crawlers. The route is short yet brutally steep, gaining nearly 2000 feet of elevation in 3/4 of a mile. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words - so here's about seven thousand words!!

Hopefully these photos will help you get an idea of just what a big deal it is to beat the incline. All I can say is, "Better Kate than me!!"
